Slip Disc Treatment Overview
The slipped disc is also known as a prolapsed or herniated disc. It is a condition when the soft inner part of the disc (known as nucleus pulposus) bulges out through the weakened or broken part of the disc pressing on the nearby structures (nerves coming out of the spinal cord), resulting in numbness, tingling or even pain in the area.
Slipped disc or disc herniation can occur at any level but usually occurs in the lumbar region. The severity of the prolapse and hernia may vary from person to person, the higher the prolapse, the more serious the symptoms.
Early-stage signs of spine degeneration are sporadic or constant back pain, but you'd be able to perform your daily activities. Nevertheless, as the disc bulges and compresses the spinal nerves the symptoms begin to get severe-the pain becomes severe, persistent, and prolonged which means you could have a slipped disk.
